POSITION: Director of Application Development





RESPONSIBILITIES:



Headquartered in Seattle Washington, Dipiti is an Internet infomediary
connecting online consumers with the hidden value of online community
content: communities and professionals addressing important life
matters including health, legal, money and pet care. Dipiti makes this
Web 2.0 content easily accessible through human-filtered search that
identifies, qualifies, and organizes message boards, directories and
expert discussion forums providing consumers with a trusted source for
information they need.



We are looking for a Director of Application Development who will help
create the next generation social and community search platform. You
will design, develop and test backend software solutions. Candidates
must be well versed in state-of-the-art Ruby, Ruby on Rails, C++,
Java, web services, Linux, Open Source, and database development.
Candidates must have a solid understanding of security principles,
authentication, systems integration, and distributed application
development.  Successful candidates will have a good sense of process
automation, tools, and workflow development. They will be able to
develop independently, integrate components from other developers, and
provide technical leadership in a small team environment. This is a
hands-on role, and you are expected to code.





REQUIREMENTS:



* 6+ years experience in the following areas of development:
o C, C++

o Java, J2EE

o Linux platform architecture and development

o Database-driven applications

o XML, XSLT, XPath, and general handiness with all things XML

* 2+ years experience in

o Ruby/Ruby on Rails
o LAMP

o Solr, Nutch, or Lucene experience

* Candidates with experience in on one or more of the following areas
will be preferred:

o Smalltalk
o Lisp
o Text mining, Machine learning, Graph search

o Semantic Web, Ontologies/Taxonomies in Search, Social network analysis

o SQL database schema design and performance optimization

* Team player with product shipping experience

* Demonstrated ability to meet project timelines and collaborate in
small team environment

* Strong communication skills and attention to detail

* Must be able to take initiative, work independently and be innovative

* Able to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing, early-stage environment

* BS or greater in Computer Science.
