3TIER, a private provider of resource assessments and forecasts for  
the weather-driven renewable energy industry, invites applications  
for a full-time position as a scientific programmer in its Seattle  
office. 3TIER provides wind energy forecasts for approximately one- 
third of the installed wind projects in the U.S. and over two- 
thousand megawatts of hydropower.

We seek a highly motivated individual who will work as part of a team  
to develop, streamline, test, and maintain parts of 3TIER's code  
base. This individual must be able to work on multiple projects with  
limited supervision. Experience programming in Ruby is essential.

Minimum requirements:
* Bachelor of Science in Earth Science, Engineering, Computer  
Science, or related field
* two years experience in a scientific programming environment t
* experience with Ruby and SQL
* experience using CVS, SVN or a similar version control system
* familiarity handling large scientific datasets
* familiarity with scientific programming in a UNIX/Linux environment

Preferred skills:
* experience with shell scripting and Perl
* experience with compiled languages such as C and Fortran
* experience with ActiveRecord
* experience operating in a cluster environment
* familiarity with scientific data formats such as NetCDF and Grib
