Job Description

This job contributes to Starbucks success by working with end-users
and analysts to design, develop, test, and implement complex computer
application solutions that will enable Starbucks to continually expand
its business and remain competitive. The job also provides technical
leadership, guidance, and mentoring for programmers and analysts new
to Starbucks or on specific technical components and applications.
Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.


Summary of Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not
limited to the following:
Acts as a subject matter expert on one or more business function areas.
Assists in project management by providing time estimates of project
tasks assigned to the programmer analyst, monitoring status and
reporting any changes to the project manager.
Designs, develops, implements and tests new or existing systems, and
facilitates design review meetings to ensure design will result in a
robust, reliable application.
Documents design and development processes, and occasionally performs
some user-based documentation.
Supports application and users with problem resolution and provides
third-level production support as needed.


Qualifications
Summary of Experience:

Business application development and deployment in a retail
environment (3 years)
Application development (5 years)
SQL, XML, HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, PHP, SQL, RDBMS
(preferably DB2), Apache server configuration (3 years)
Strong web design skills
Solid understanding of database design and structure
Fluency in at least one major programming language
Working with business process owners and identifying information
technology solutions that enable business process improvements (3
years)

Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong organizational skills
Knowledge of basic project management processes
Ability to learn new technology and business processes
Familiarity with software design methodology

Ability to work as part of a team
