Sounds like a good idea man. You're not really doing any business
with me since I gave you my software for free. But, you got your
principles for sure and it's good to stand by them.
Just so you know, I don't do much with Mongrel these days and it's
actually run by a much better bunch of guys than myself. I suggest you
pop into the #mongrel channel on irc.freenode.org (which I don't
frequent) and talk with them since the personal factor is a big deal
for you. If you're still not satisfied that they're going to do a
better job and are not up to your high moral standard then I recommend
the following things to try:
1) fcgid, fastcgi, and fastthread. It's a bitch to get right and is
really fickle, but you can do it. Fastthread is key.
2) I also wrote SCGI for Ruby but that was given to a different fellow
to manage as well. You can contact him to see if he's also not a
homophobe and you'd like to do "business" with him.
3) Next I'd say check out glassfish, tomcat, jetty, combined with
goldspike to deploy on jruby.
4) Finally, there's a project just anounced named Thin. There's also
Serverside available. I'd suggest putting your muscle behind those
projects and wipe out mongrel. Thin uses Mongrel's parser, so you'd
only have to use a bit of my software.
Good luck. Oh, and this is my last message to seattle.rb. Good luck
to all you guys.
