[Ruby] Vlad setup

I can't even get off of the starting blocks with Vlad. I did some
Googling and it doesn't look like anyone else is having this kind of
problem. I get this with every vlad task, but not with any of the
built-in tasks. Has anyone else seen this problem before?

I'm running Ruby 1.8.6 on Ubuntu 7.10 with a gem-installed rake,
version 0.8.1.
