We've just released the first version of Urbanspoon, our Seattle 
restaurant site built with Rails:

The idea is to make an uncluttered restaurant site with a few distinct 
features:

- links to the critics (the PI, the Times, Stranger, etc.)
- menus, either scanned or via links to the restaurant site
- voting

Our company is tiny, just me and another friend working together here in 
Seattle. It's amazing what you can do with rails in a relatively short 
period of time. We only cover local restaurants at the moment but we'll 
expand to more cities if the project takes off. So far people seem to 
like what we've put together.

I also have an incredibly geeky blog that might be of interest to you
